We Offer 4 Short Courses. Levels 1-4.

Level One

This is not a beginners course. Level one lays the foundation on which proper troubleshooting skills are built. Starting with symbols and the physics of hydraulics, the student is given a broad coverage if hydraulic components, systems maintenance, safety and set-up. Load control is discussed in detail with respect to proper flow and pressure control application. Students will understand the roll of carious valves in a circuit. This is reinforced with hands on training.

Level Two

Building on the foundation laid in Level One, additional hydraulic controls and component testing procedures are covered. The bulk of the course focuses on understanding complete circuit operation. Students will then design, build and set up various constant flow circuits. Faults are introduced and the methodical approach to troubleshooting is taught. Circuit analysis is stressed as opposed to part-changing.

Level Three

The next step is to understand variable displacement pumps which are common throughout industry. Students will receive detailed instruction on pressure compensation, load sensing, HP (Torque Limiting) pump controls and closed loop (hydrostatic transmission) circuits. Correct set up and operation will be verified in Hands On circuit building exercises. Students will design, build and troubleshoot various demand-flow circuits. Faults will be introduced and methodical troubleshooting taught. The technique of detailed circuit analysis is reinforced.

Level Four

The culmination of the learning process is an understanding of the more common place electro-hydraulic controls. Students will review electronic theory then various levels of controls will be covered from on-off ladder logic type control to open loop proportional and servo valve control and closed loop (feedback from load) control. The practical aspects of maintenance will be covered as well as proper set up and tuning procedures. Correct set up and operation will be verified in Hands-On circuit building exercises. A clear understanding of correct inputs and outputs will be stressed as the key to effective troubleshooting.

Custom Training

Depending on the nature of your equipment, and the size and skill of your workforce, it may be possible to shorten this four part series. CFP can create a syllabus that is based on your equipment and training needs.

It is generally recomended that custom clients book at least three weeks of training to bring your entire maintenance team up to speed. It may be possible to complete a hydraulic training series in less time of your team already has a good understanding of the subject.
